Sugar Substitutes<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

If you\u2019re not a regular dessert diner, you probably won\u2019t destroy your teeth by having a little sugar just this once, but that doesn’t mean you can\u2019t make smart swaps where you can. Instead of using it in pies and cookies, switch to a substitute like xylitol instead. That way, you can still enjoy the dishes that can\u2019t be modified without exposing your teeth to as much in one sitting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Curb your Carbs<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Carbohydrates contain starches that cavity-causing bacteria love. Don\u2019t let them in on the feast, swap carbs for vegetables instead. They\u2019re more filling, better for you, and just as delicious!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Stop Stains<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Foods like cranberries, red wine, and coffee can all deposit color that could stain your teeth. That, and they contain acid that can damage your tooth enamel, so if you do enjoy them, try alternating sips of water so you rinse it away before it has a chance to cause problems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It can be hard to keep on top of your oral hygiene routine during the holidays, especially if you\u2019re traveling or making the rounds from meal to meal, but don\u2019t let yourself fall out of habit. Missing one brushing won\u2019t be catastrophic, but missing multiple can take its toll on your teeth and gums, especially if you\u2019re eating a lot more treats than usual.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
